Tongue spoon

For horses that like to throw their tongue over the bit, a tongue spoon can be the right solution. It is attached to the bit and prevents the horse from putting its tongue over the bit. This can be useful for young horses that have developed a habit of putting their tongue over the bit. Please note! It is of great importance that the tongue spoon is used with care and only to discourage undesirable behavior. When the horse frequently throws its tongue over the bit or sticks its tongue out, it may indicate pain and/or discomfort. This should be ruled out by a specialist before using the tongue spoon.

The use of a tongue spoon is not allowed in dressage. In show jumping, the use of a tongue spoon is allowed with a snaffle bit, provided it is smooth. The tongue spoon must be at least 5 mm thick.
