Waterford

The Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links that are interconnected. These adapt flexibly to the horse's mouth, creating an even pressure distribution. The Waterford mouthpiece is movable in all directions, reducing the horse's ability to grab onto the bit. The bit has no rough or hard edges that would work inside the horse's mouth. Depending on the width, thickness, and shape of the links, the bit can work softer or harder.

This mouthpiece is particularly suitable for strong horses that like to grab onto the bit. Therefore, it is not recommended for horses that are sensitive in the mouth, as they are likely not to accept the pressure. Only horses that accept a lot of pressure on the reins and push against the hand may benefit from a Waterford bit.

A Waterford mouthpiece is often used in sports by professionals. It is not suitable for novice or inexperienced riders. It is a mouthpiece that should be used with care. A Waterford bit is gentle with a soft hand but can be sharp with a firm hand. The horse must have a stable foundation before being ridden with a Waterford mouthpiece. At HorseOnline, you can test the bit before purchasing. A Waterford mouthpiece is FEI-approved and can be used in show jumping and dressage competitions.
