Bell boots & Overreach boots

Bell boots protect the hooves and coronet band from the horse's striking. With a bell boot, the coronet band, hoof ball, and a part of the hoof are protected. During jumping, it is particularly important to protect these areas because there is a chance that the horse may hit a pole. Additionally, wearing bell boots or hoof ball protectors can prevent the horse from pulling off its horseshoes. A hoof ball protector is an anatomically shaped bell boot that fits perfectly around the horse's heel. This provides protection for both the fetlock and hoof balls of the horse. The reinforced material offers optimal protection for the horse's hoof balls. This is a very sensitive part of the horse's foot, which is extra vulnerable to damage. During a landing from a jump, the horse's hind legs may land on the hoof balls.

There are various types of protectors available on the market. The most commonly used materials are rubber, leather, and neoprene. You can also choose between a protector with or without fur. For sensitive horses, the fur lining on the bell boot can prevent friction and rubbing. Most bell boots can be fastened with a Velcro closure, but there are also protectors that can be fastened with a quick button closure.

A widely sold product is Tesa Tape. This can be wrapped around the hoof for protection. This way, you will never have to deal with slipping or rubbing protectors. Additionally, you can decide for yourself how much or little tape to use to determine the thickness of the protection. Moreover, with this method, it is also possible to partially wrap the horseshoe, providing protection for it as well.
