    There are numerous nosebands available on the market. The type of noseband that suits best depends on the combination of the horse and the rider.

    A combined noseband is the classic model. The noseband runs under the cheekpieces and closes above the bit. The noseband allows your horse to breathe freely. For most horses, a high noseband is the suitable option. The curb strap closes beyond the bit and ensures a more stable position of the bit. It limits the horse from opening its mouth too wide; whether horses find this comfortable or not can vary from one horse to another.

    The Mexican noseband is characterized by two thin leather straps that cross over the nasal bone. Where the leather straps intersect, a nose pad is placed under a connecting piece. It is of great importance that the crossed part of the noseband is correctly positioned on the nasal bone, and that the rings sit at the right position near the cheekbone. The Mexican noseband promotes an open and healthy breathing, as it does not obstruct the nostrils of the horse. When the horse opens its mouth widely, it experiences a sharp pressure on the nasal bone. Therefore, the noseband is often used for horses that tend to lean into the rider's hand and become hot during riding or jumping.

    A low noseband or Hanoverian noseband lies under the bit, contributing to a stable position of the bit. This noseband can be beneficial for horses that react sensitively to a noseband placed higher, or for horses that require a stable bit position. When using this noseband, make sure it is placed on the bone and not on the soft, floating part. The horse's nostrils must always remain unobstructed.
