Fetlock Boots
The fetlock joint of the hind leg is a fragile part of the horse's body. The risk of injury is significant due to the interference of the hind legs. This risk is further increased during jumping. There are various types of protectors for the hind legs, such as brushing boots and fetlock boots. Brushing boots provide protection only to the inside of the horse's leg, while fetlock boots cover the entire fetlock joint, both on the inside and outside. The protectors come in different models with various unique features. You can choose between different types of fastenings, such as buckle closure, quick-release snaps, or Velcro.
The protectors are constantly being improved to ensure the safety of the horse's leg. For example, you now see fetlock boots with an extra-long flap at the bottom to also protect the pastern of the horse. Additionally, only the most innovative materials are used during production, such as Carbon. Carbon is extremely lightweight and does not hinder the horse. The use of gel in the tendon boots provides optimal shock absorption.
For sensitive horses, there is the option to use sheepskin-lined tendon boots. The use of fur in the leg protectors makes them extra soft and prevents chafing. It is always the rider's responsibility to continuously check whether the horse's tendons are not overheating.
To protect the fetlocks of your horse, you can use a fetlock ring or band. This ring or band is attached around the fetlock of the horse, preventing the horse from causing damage by hitting itself.
