  • Swales 3-in-1 pelham - Pluko Bit A swales bit is also called a Pluko Bit and has the effect of a double bridle, but is less complicated. The Swales has loose movable rings over the mouthpiece for attaching the cheek pieces and does not exert pressure behind the ears, emphasizing the action on the shanks and causing leverage. The longer the shanks, the greater the leverage. The Swales 3 in 1 pelham provides greater leverage than a traditional pelham and is used in combination with a curb chain or chin strap. The Swales 3 in 1 pelham is designed to provide control for strong horses that tend to hang on the hand. A Swales bit can be used with 2 reins, one rein on the loose rings for a soft support and the other rein on the bottom ring for leverage, or with one rein by means of a connection strap (Bridge). The Swales 3 in 1 pelham is not suitable for inexperienced riders or horses, this bit can work quite strongly. Straight mouthpiece: A straight mouthpiece consists of 1 piece and gives pressure on the tongue, layers and lips. The shape and thickness of the mouthpiece determine where the pressure will be in the mouth. A straight mouthpiece with a tongue port gives more pressure on the layers and keeps the tongue free. The straighter and thicker the mouthpiece, the more pressure on the tongue.

  • D-Snaffle Bit

  • Gag Bit A gag bit is used with cheek pieces for a gag bit that pass through the rings of the bit and are attached to the headpiece of the bridle. At the bottom of this retrieval cord is a ring to which the rein is attached. When taking the reins, the bit slides up in the mouth and gives pressure behind the ears. The gag snaffle is designed to stimulate the horse to raise its head and is often used on horses that "lean". A gag snaffle can be used with 1 or 2 reins This bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders and horse. Single Jointed A single jointed bit has a hinge point in the middle that puts pressure on the layers, lips and sides of the tongue. A single jointed bit squeezes the tongue slightly under pressure and puts less pressure on the tongue. The hinge point rises slightly in the middle and can sting the palate. In this case is it better to choose a double-jointed or straight mouthpiece. A single jointed bit is a good basic bit, suitable for many horses and riders.

Why choose HorseOnline.com?

HorseOnline.com was founded out of a pure passion for equestrian sports. We are a team of experienced riders and specialists who work daily with the best products from the international show jumping industry. What began as a network within the elite sport has grown into an online store where quality, expertise, and reliability come together.

We carefully select and test every product, from bits and saddles to grooming and competition gear. Thanks to our close collaboration with professional riders, we know exactly what works and what doesn't.

At HorseOnline.com, you benefit from expert advice, fast delivery, and a carefully curated selection of the most renowned brands in equestrian sports.

Yes. We work closely with professional riders and specialists to ensure every product in our range actually performs. We don't just list products, we test them, use them, and stand behind them. If a product doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't make it into our store.

What makes HorseOnline.com different from other equestrian webshops?

We go further than most. Beyond our online store, we offer saddle fittings, bit testing, and personal advice. Our mobile equestrian store visits competition stables in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany — bringing the shop directly to you. You will also find us at national and international competitions throughout the year. And if you prefer to visit us in person, you are always welcome at our showroom in Sint-Oedenrode, or schedule an appointment with us.

Do you also offer personal advice when choosing bits or saddles?

Yes, and it is one of the things we are most proud of. Our team consists of experienced riders and specialists who have either competed at a high level themselves or spent their careers as grooms working with the best horses and riders in the sport. We do not guess. We know what works, because we have lived it ourselves.

Finding the right bit or saddle is not something you should have to figure out alone. That is why we offer personal bit advice and saddle fittings, both online and at your location. Our mobile shop visits stables across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, and you will find us at competitions throughout the year, ready to help, talk through options, and make sure horse and rider are perfectly equipped.
